I Barely Made It to the Top After 3 Hours of Bushwhacking

Three hours. One creek. No trail. I bushwhacked my way up the back side of Grandfather Mountain under the Linn Cove Viaduct to reach a hidden peak at 4,681 feet. It wasn’t easy, but the view from the top was worth every step.

After the climb, I took a few minutes to sit down and breathe - a simple 5 minute meditation on top of a wild mountain peak. No music, no distractions, just wind and sky. It’s amazing how calm you can feel after that kind of effort.
