Here’s a Powerhouse 2000Wi generator that had zero compression. I paid $20.
The decompression mechanism on the camshaft came apart when the previous owner was running it, and that caused the timing chain to come off the cam sprocket. The cam bearing closest to the sprocket is also very badly damaged.
I removed the decompression mechanism, reinstalled the cam chain, and it fired right up.
I purchased a new camshaft with the decompression mechanism and bearing, and this is just a quick overview of the repair process.
