Wondering where Bonham found his inspiration for drum sounds? Picture this: the hihat is just now starting to find its way into the common setup, toms have tunable batter AND resonant drumheads (though still all animal hide), auxiliary percussion is being phased out as the kit evolves from a “trap set” into more of a modern “drum set”. It’s the 1930’s and we’re exploring sounds that were made famous by big band jazz but affected music for many decades to come.
