When I say that "I didn't get outside till 630 or 7pm..." I mean, didn't hit the street. I had been outside plenty, on my big, beautiful balcony. My room is so bright and sunny and airy, with such a great view, that it's like being outside, just sitting in the sun-drenched room. And sitting out on the balcony, I AM outside. (Which I why I would ALWAYS want a room with a balcony.)
Conversely, when I travel, I'm often in a room that has windows so small or so obstructed that they might as well be windowless. And I find that depressing as all hell.
My room in Chiang Mai is good for my mental health.
