Two weeks, two countries, and one goal...to experience and travel around the nomadic landscapes of Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan while searching for the perfect campsite. From the breathtaking Kolsai Lakes and mystical Kaindy Lake, to the red cliffs of Charyn Canyon, to the gorgeous valley of Altyn Arashan, we ventured deep into the wild with little plan and an excitement to experience new cultures and a new part of the world.

Along the way, we drove through towering mountains, vast deserts, and hidden valleys, ran into a few unexpected challenges (including bribes, wild “oregano,” and running on empty in the middle of nowhere), and even faced off against a Kyrgyz warrior. Wild camping under the stars, navigating rugged terrain, and meeting incredible locals, like Max, made this an adventure we’ll never forget.
