In the second of our C-560XL CRITICAL SYSTEMS tutorials: this one showcases and details the various ENGINE INSTRUMENTS for safe aircraft operations.
There are a number of instruments to be used to keep informed of safe engine performance, and they are all faithfully modeled AND the all operate realistically based on real jet functions. Critically, so don't skip the part where we advise you to leave behind any airliner-like throttle-use-learned behaviors and experience where slamming the throttles around, especially during take off is considered "normal". Redlining this jets engines have consequences. In fact, we demonstrate how it takes an airliner DOUBLE the time to lift off compared to the C-560XL while the little jet uses LESS that 100% power.
This video also showcases the jets Auto Throttle.
Wait, what?
The real aircraft does not have an AT. So what's this, and why?
Yes, we modeled an AT as a bonus feature in this aircraft to help keep the throttle stable in long-flight or in bumpy air to maintain airspeed, merely as a simulation-convenience. However, its is purely an "on-demand" option, which, if you want can be turned off. If you wish to fly the aircraft in REALISTIC mode, the AT, like in real-life, is non-existent.
ANOTHER "non-authentic" but fun feature to use (again optionally if you want) is the jets AUTO LANDING capability. In real life, the Autopilot is disconnected prior to landing, but we show the jet Auto-landing. BTW the AP is 100% custom, and is an exact model and functions exactly like the real C-560XL jet too. yeah!!
So this little jet is packed with added bonus engine and other functional features to help make the sim experience better, but its your choice to fly in AUGMENTED or REALISTIC modes (covered in Tutorial 1.5) To use, or not use, functions. But in this tutorial there is much more to learn about the Engines Indents, the use of AOA and throttle interaction, critical throttle positions for Cold and dark starts, and, and, and ...
Don't also miss the various imagery of the jet during the tutorial as it operates in the air, on the ground, and listen for the superior and directional FMOD sounds (constructed from real aircraft recordings), plus the lights and reflections on the PBR materials, and much more. So while its instructional, we hope its visually stimulating and not "boring". Enjoy.
If you have been following our guidance to watch these tutorials in their numbered order, you will by now begin to see familiar patterns of this aircraft's industry-leading 3D lighting, superior real-world recorded FMOD sounds, and also see its strong attention to object detail, particles, advanced 3D shading, authentic labeling and texturing detail throughout this tutorial.
