How to Easily Splice the Gottifredi Maffioli Swiftcord Line in 7 steps

One of Gottifredi Maffioli’s flagship products is the Swiftcord. After over 20 years of its launch, this product is still a reference point in high performance sailing lines: it is simple, lightweight and comfortable. In this video we demonstrate how to easily splice the Gottifredi Maffioli swiftcord line in 7 steps. If you follow very carefully the instructions given, it will be easy.

Tools required:
• Measuring tape
• Marker
• Scissors
• Hammer
• Sailmaker’s Palm
• Splicing needles
• Thread
• Lighter

Step 1: Measure 15 cm and make a dot with your marker, then measure 10 cm twice and mark them as well

Step 2: Use the scissors to thin the swiftcord

Step 3: Use the splicing needle to create the loop

Step 4: Hammer the rope gently in order to keep it in place

Step 5: Remove the needle extracting a piece of the line end and carefully trim it. Pull the line cover down in order to cover the exposed end

Step 6: Lock the loop using splicing needle and string, remember to protect your hand with the sailmaker’s palm

Step 7: Briefly light the ends of the string used to lock the splice waiting just long enough for it to melt
