The Dagger in the Back

This is the moment when the Cadians were betrayed.

The sky cracked open like a festering wound, a violet sun arose,
While in the trenches, brothers turned, and friends became our foes.
The levies from the distant worlds, their minds a hollow shell,
Trade their oaths for madness, and their souls to burning hell.
I saw the Cadian line dissolve, not by the traitor’s gun,
But by the man who stood beside, before the day was done.
A million knives in shadows plunged, a red and bitter tide,
As those we swore to shield from death committed deicide.

The dagger in the back was deep, the sky was raining fire,
As Chaos poured from broken clouds to build a funeral pyre.
But Cadia does not weep for traitors, she grinds them into dust,
We paid the price in martyr's blood, for every broken trust!

For three long days of agony, the world was turned to war,
Against the filth within our ranks, we settled every score.
From Kasr Myrak to the pylons, the purifiers swept,
While orphans of the Whiteshields for their fallen fathers wept.
The Space Marines, like scythes of doom, cut through the rebel's heart,
Tearing those who broke their vows a thousand ways apart.
We purged the halls, we cleansed the soil, with fire and holy zeal,
Until the only thing that remained was Cadian bone and steel.

And as we rose from heaps of dead, the real storm finally broke,
The Archenemy descended through the thunder and the smoke!
Drop-pods like falling meteors, the sky a bruised and broken vein,
The planet shook with hatred, but we laughed amidst the pain!
