The Top 30 songs plus 5 extras by Starz, Carpenters, Teddy Pendergrass, Kenny Nolan and Maze Featuring Frankie Beverly from the 1977 singles charts of Billboard, Cash Box and Record World magazines for weeks ending July 9, 16, 23 and 30.

Unlike for my books, Ranking the ‘60s and Ranking the ‘70s (with Bill Carroll), in which a weighted ranking system was used, I used a simple reverse ranking system, assigning 1 point to No. 30, 2 points to No. 29, etc. I kept it simple since we’re dealing with four weeks rather than a longer duration, like a year.
