Point Reno in Fort Reno Park is the highest natural point in the District of Columbia. Washington DC is a unique creation in the United States, it is the country's only Federal District and that makes it a unique highpointing opportunity. DC has a fascinating history and its highpoint is no different. The current District highpoint is not the original one, that can be found at Minors Hill, in modern day Arlington County in Virginia. I'll explore how the District came to be, why it is here on the Potomac, what happened to the original highpoint, and the history of the current one as well.
