Caramelized Apple Custard Cake
5 large apples
3 eggs
2–3 tbsp sugar
3 tbsp flour
2 tbsp vegetable oil
250 ml milk
1 large apple
1 tbsp butter
1 tbsp honey
a pinch of salt
powdered sugar for serving
cinnamon to taste
Prepare the apples:
Peel 5 large apples, remove the cores, and cut them into small pieces.
Caramelize:
In a skillet, melt the butter with honey over medium heat, stirring until the honey is fully dissolved.
Add the apple pieces, stir to coat them with the honey mixture, and cook over medium heat for 7–10 minutes, stirring often. And don’t forget to add cinnamon to taste.The apples should become soft but not mushy.
Make the batter:
In a bowl, whisk together the eggs, salt, sugar, and vegetable oil until smooth.
Add the flour and mix well.
Heat the milk until almost boiling, then gradually pour it into the batter in small portions, stirring constantly.
Assemble the cake:
Evenly spread the caramelized apples over the bottom of a baking dish.
Pour the batter on top.
Bake:
Bake in a preheated oven at 200°C (390°F) for 30–40 minutes, until golden brown.
Serve:
Remove from the oven, let cool slightly, and dust with powdered sugar.
This tender and flavorful caramelized apple cake is best served warm.
