思念是一首歌 王可 Eng Sub. Longings Are Like A Song. Wang Ke "W. K. Walker" [Chiki's QUALITY Eng Subs]

Dear Friends,

What a melody! What outstanding vocal arrangements! Such are the two elements that had prompted the conscientious translation project herein. I regret to say that the lyrics themselves were trite and prosaic. Fortunately, this "magical" melody was graced by the sensitive vocals of capable singer 王可 Wang Ke "W.K. Walker". It sufficed in delivering a mini modern masterpiece! He injected sensitivity, intense passion, life and soul into an otherwise average and tiresome song. His vocals made the song so catchy and irresistable! I love it! The very fibre of his voice rendered every word and note so apt, so heart engaging and soul compelling!

I am sure that most, if not all of us, have experienced hurtful and devastating moments of being besotted or even being seriously mired in unreciprocated love. Such is life. This song is a beautiful and haunting articulation of that horrible phase. I certainly hope we are all the more discerning, stronger and wiser as a result of such ordeals.

Well, this translation project was substantially easier than previous ones, due to the fact that it was written in standard modern Chinese with standard modern cliches. Yet, my friends, the seemingly direct or simple title "思念是一首歌 Sīniàn Shì Yī Shǒu Gē" itself was somewhat tricky. I've decided to translate it as "Longings Are Like A Song"; thereby supplying a clearer context within which the lyrics are made much easier to understand. I disliked the usual literal translations of "Missing Is A Song" or "Longing Is A Song". Both titles render the lyrics clumsy, ambiguous and confusing. Again, this is my very own translation. Please pardon any arrogant presumptuousness on my part. Please forgive any flaws. In the very least, please do appreciate my sincere and painstaking efforts. Embrace, enjoy and cherish!
