Backpacking to Mt Assiniboine 🇨🇦 The Matterhorn of the Canadian Rockies

ASSINIBOINE'S TREK & NUB PEAK 🇨🇦

One of the most highly rated treks in the Canadian Rockies, with a round-trip journey to the base of Mount Assiniboine. In our case, we completed the trek over 3 days, dedicating the second day to ascending Nub Peak. As you gain altitude along the way, the route offers iconic views of Assiniboine (the intermediate points, Nublet and Niblet, are classic spots for photography).

_The route, as in our case, can be done as a loop, ascending via the Assiniboine Pass, returning via Marvel Lake, and camping at designated spots at Magog Lake (which you need to book in advanced). Overall, it is a long trek (68 km in total) where you need to carry all necessary food and sleeping gear (tent included). Don’t forget to bring bear spray and make noise, especially in forested or enclosed areas. Just before arriving to the campground, we actually had an encounter with a grizzly bear. Fortunately, upon seeing us, it sttod up and immediately left the area. Bear activity is quite high in the area so it's important to know how to react if you encounter one.
