The Bevel Deformer works well with nice clean geometry but after booling out complex shapes the resulting polygon edges can cause a mess.
Here is a simple way to replace a collection of messy polygons on a single plane with a single N-gon - including some tips on techniques for simplifying the mesh to clean up the edges for the Bevel Deformer to give a clean result.
Useful Keyboard commands used:
M~E = Polygon Pen
M~D = Close Polygon Hole
M~N = Dissolve
U~L = Loop Selection
