Oliver Horton, a junior at Coronado High, won the boys Class 4A crown at the Colorado High School Activities Association state championships at Norris Penrose Event Center in Colorado Springs. Horton ran 14:48.32 to smash the 5-kilometer all-time mark at the venue of 15:02.1 set last year in the Class 4A final by Aiden Le Roux from Cheyenne Mountain High, helping Coronado place five scorers in the top 25 to win the first team title for the Cougars since 2012 and only the second in program history with 53 points. Horton elevated from third last season in 15:31.3.
