Dr. Burlingame defines what we mean by data-driven or evidence-based research, practice, and policy development. She examines hierarchies of evidence, data gaps, and the application of data (both old and new) for human and planetary health. A case study on vitamin A deficiency in Micronesia illustrates key concepts of this lesson, such as the need to reevaluate hierarchies of evidence, and to bridge traditional and empirical ways of knowing.
Food EDU is facilitated by the American Heart Association and the Alliance of Bioversity and CIAT as co-secretariats of The Periodic Table of Food Initiative (PTFI).
