Stretford's High Volume Pump responding along Manchester Road towards a large scrap yard fire in Altrincham using blue lights and two-tone horns. Last year this appliance only turned out to 2 incidents so it is not a common sight to see responding.
A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) said:
"At around midday today (Saturday, 22nd March), firefighters were called to reports of a fire at a commercial property on Craven Road in Altrincham.
Eleven fire engines from Stretford, Altrincham, Sale, Moss Side, Wythenshawe, Gorton, Offerton, Bury, Salford, and Eccles, along with the aerial appliance from Manchester Central Fire Station, the Environmental Protection Unit from Bury, the Command Unit and Welfare Unit from Hyde, the High Volume Pump from Stretford, the Hose Layer from Cheadle, the Air Unit, and five Flexi Duty Officers, quickly arrived at the scene, where a number of vehicles had caught fire within a scrap yard."
