I headed out with Willis Morris, Hamish Frost, and Jake Holland to tackle the Arête du Diable on Mont Blanc du Tacul. After hours of technical climbing over the rock towers in some cold, "Scottish" conditions, we reached Pointe Chaubert. This was the spot I had picked out to open a brand-new BASE exit.
The gearing-up process at a new exit is always a methodical ritual for me. It’s all about clearing the mind and finalizing every decision before the leap. I felt sure about this jump, and as soon as I launched, muscle memory took over. It was an incredible feeling to fly past the summits of Mont Blanc and Mont Maudit after such a long haul up.
Once I was down, the rest of the team continued the climb to the summit. Willis eventually launched his speedwing from 4,000 meters, buzzing the seracs of the Bossons Glacier all the way back to the valley. Huge thanks to Hamish and Jake for capturing the mission.
