Climbing to Kijabe! Brutal Hills, Cold Weather & Roadside Drama | Maai Mahiu Ride 🚴 Insta360 POV

Ready to experience Kenya’s most breathtaking — and brutal — bike adventure? This group ride from Nairobi to Maai Mahiu and up the legendary Kijabe Hill was nothing short of epic.

🚴‍♂️ Starting at Allsops, Nairobi, we rolled out at 7:30am through Thika Superhighway and Limuru Road. The early morning chill hit hard as we climbed from 1650m to 2300m above sea level. After refueling in Limuru town, we dropped into a nerve-racking descent into Maai Mahiu (2300m ➡ 1850m ASL) — navigating heavy truck traffic, narrow roads, and even an accident scene.

📉 One rider fell, another had a flat, and the road turned rough fast — perfect for mountain bikes and gravel bikes, but a nightmare for roadies. At the base, we refueled and hit the hardest segment: the brutal offroad Kijabe Hill climb (1850m ➡ 2600m ASL). Some gave in and walked; others pushed through like champions. The three strongest MTB riders conquered it with power and grit.

🌬️ Kijabe was freezing. Even hot tea couldn't help. After a hearty meal and a short break, we descended back to Nairobi via the Nakuru-Nairobi Highway.
