Tacitus on Germania (AD 98): Tacitus, a senator and a historian of the Roman Empire, wrote "Germania," an ethnographic work on the diverse groups of Germanic tribes outside the Roman Empire. This text provides a crucial outsider's perspective on the tribal societies of ancient Germania.
