The indigenous people from Otavalo are the only indigenous people in South America who are openly proud to be indigenous and for good reasons. They are not only excellent craftsmen, but also very good traders.
In this short video you can see how their town turns every Saturday in one big colorful market. This market is for local people and tourists, but their real trading skills are applied at their own shops in cities like London and Paris!

De inheemse bevolking van Otavalo is de enige inheemse bevolking in Zuid-Amerika die openlijk trots is op haar afkomst, en terecht. Ze zijn niet alleen uitstekende ambachtslieden, maar ook zeer bedreven in de handel.
In dit korte filmpje zie je hoe hun dorp elke zaterdag verandert in één grote, kleurrijke markt. Deze markt is voor de lokale bevolking en toeristen, maar hun ware handelsvaardigheden passen ze toe in hun eigen winkels in steden als Londen en Parijs!
