5 Day Cuyabeno Amazon Tour in Ecuador, with the Nicky Lodge

We think that Amazon tours into the Cuyabeno Amazon Reserve in Ecuador belong to the most underrated tours into the Amazon Rainforest. Among backpackers you often hear that there is more to see in the Peruvian Amazon, or that tours into the Amazon Rainforest of Bolivia are cheaper. Both are false assumptions. The main reason for this is it's water system of narrow creeks and shallow lakes. This water system allows you to navigate close to wildlife that's hiding in the trees. Sound from and on a river, doesn't scare wildlife as much as footsteps and voices in the forest. Another adventage you have when spotting wildlife from a creek, is that you look at the trees from the side, instead of from below...
Note: during this 5 day Amazon Tour with the Nicky Lodge, we had a private tour on day 3 (when we saw the grey dolphins). Normally this day includes an extra hike in the rainforest and another visit to Laguna Grande.
