After a short trip to Paris, the German section of the Hot Space Tour continues (technically it continued on the day before in Hanover but unfortunately, no recording of the show is circulating although we have some audience footage from it!) with two nights in Cologne. As usually in Germany, the band are in a great mood which is helped by the enthusiastic audience. Twice they're singing one of their football chants with Freddie encouraging them after a fantastic "Play the Game". This enthusiasm continues through the show and later culminates in one of the best twenty minutes the band would play in the 80s, if not ever. "Bohemian Rhapsody" through "Now I'm Here (reprise)" is without a doubt flawless with Freddie hitting almost every note you can possibly hit (the best ever C5 in "BoRhap" for example) and the band playing absolutely out of their minds. It are these moments that define Queen live for me and make it worth every second of listening to these (sometimes very harsh sounding) audience recording.
