We do not burn fat but we utilize fat because fat is a source of fuel, body fat is a stored form of energy. Let us get a thorough understanding of this concept by an example. The two most preferred sources of energy for our body are carbohydrates and fats. The difference between the two fuel options has been clearly explained, its efficiency and running. The term 'Burn Fat' is a wrong term used because the body cannot burn fat but it can utilize fat, fat is the stored form of energy and therefore the body can utilize it. Body fat which is a source of fuel can be utilized when we exercise, sleep, rest or relax; irrespective of the intensity of work done or even at rest the body uses energy, so body can utilize fat which is the stored form of energy throughout the day. Hormones are the deciding factors on how the body will utilize the body fat; the two main deciding hormones are insulin and glucagon hormones. For the body to utilize body fat there should be a balance in hormones.
