A breathtaking Ziro to Aalo road trip through Arunachal Pradesh, filled with foggy valleys, bamboo villages, river crossings and the raw beauty of Northeast India.

This ride from Ziro to Aalo (Along) in Arunachal Pradesh turned out to be one of the most beautiful and emotional journeys I’ve ever done in Northeast India.

I started early morning from the fog-covered Ziro Valley, riding through silent mountain roads before stopping for breakfast around 50 km into the journey. From there, the route opened into endless green rivers, tribal villages, bamboo houses, and local markets where women were selling banana flowers, wild potatoes, sweet potatoes and locally grown sesame seeds.

One of the highlights was stumbling upon a roadside orange plantation — trees filled with ripe oranges ready to be harvested. The simple bamboo homes with sit-outs along this route were some of the most beautifully designed houses I’ve seen in any Arunachal travel vlog.

After reaching Daporijo, I bought fresh oranges from a small shop and crossed the Subansiri River, which looked absolutely serene — though seeing plastic waste along its banks was heartbreaking.

I finally reached Aalo (Along) after sunset and checked into Hill View Homestay, where the aunty cooked a warm home-style chicken meal over a firewood stove. That simple dinner felt better than any hotel food.

The next morning, I visited the Pathum Bridge and walked along the peaceful riverbank before continuing my Arunachal road trip.
If you love offbeat India, solo motorcycle travel, tribal culture and scenic mountain roads, this Ziro to Aalo ride is something you should definitely experience.
