In this video, Dr. Millie Long – Vice Chief of Education and Director of the fellowship program in the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology at the University of North Carolina School of Medicine – explains key information for IBD patients taking thiopurines, including azathioprine (Azasan, Imuran) and 6-mercaptopurine (Purinethol).
This educational video was designed for patients with IBD as part of the ASSIST study. Patients enrolled in the study have access to a remote monitoring and digital engagement system (Tappt, powered by Synchronyx) which helps patients to stay adherent to their medications and connected to their healthcare teams.
The ASSIST study is funded by the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation.
