Grey Gull records were the absolute bottom of the barrel in terms of quality during the 1920s, but on these brightly labelled discs pressed out of old tarmac and sawdust, some interesting recordings can be found - the Wabash Trio play W. C. Handy's "Yellow Dog Blues", a (perhaps accidental!) throwback to jazz in the early 1920s. This is take A, take B was also issued.
Andy Sannella - alto sax, clarinet/ John Cali - banjo/ ?Frank Banta - piano
I apologise for the rough start on this disc - it does clear up.
Grey Gull 7025
2689-A
Recorded probably in Grey Gull's 20 E. 42nd St. Studios, New York, during August 1927
