Kenyan classic meets creativity!
You've seen regular chapati.....but have you ever seen Zebra Chapati?
This fun twist on a beloved Kenyan staple is not just beautiful to look at, it's soft,flaky, and absolutely delicious.
Perfect for impressing guests or just trying something new in your kitchen.
I'm sharing step by step how to achieve those clean Zebra stripes and layers, with tips to get it just right.
Ingredients
Chapatis
White Dough:
1 cup all-purpose flour
½ tsp salt
1 tsp sugar
1 tbsp oil
About ½ cup warm water adjust as needed
Brown Dough:
3/4 cup all-purpose flour
1 tbsp cocoa powder (unsweetened)
½ tsp salt
1 tsp sugar
1 tbsp oil
About ½ cup warm water adjust as needed
Optional: Use more or less cocoa depending on how dark you want the stripes.
Pro Tip:
Mix both doughs until soft and smooth. Let rest for 30 mins. Roll and layer carefully to keep the stripes sharp.
