ESP Paolo da Firenze (1355-1436) es uno de los compositores italianos de finales del siglo XIV y principios del XV, de quien conservamos un mayor número de obra a día de hoy, solamente superado por Francesco Landini (1325-1397). Su obra es de una calidad extraordinaria, como podemos apreciar en esta ballata. La ballata es una forma fija cuya estructura se divide en cinco partes: AbbaA (ripresa, 2 piedi, volta, ripresa). Uno de los temas más populares de la época es el amor cortés. "Amore" se personifica en el "gentil signore".

ENG Paolo da Firenze (1355-1436) is one of the Italian composers of the late 14th and early 15th centuries, of whom we have the greatest number of works to this day, surpassed only by Francesco Landini (1325-1397). His work is of an extraordinary quality, as we can appreciate in this ballata. The ballata is a fixed form whose structure is divided into five parts: AbbaA (ripresa, 2 piedi, volta, ripresa). One of the most popular themes of the time is courtly love. "Amore" is personified in the "gentil signore".

Thus cruelty through a long trial
