Join me for a 14-minute walk through Chengdu’s modern business district as we try to make our way from the CITIC Bank La Défense building to the massive New Century Global Center — and it’s not as easy as it sounds!

🚶‍♂️ Starting at the futuristic China CITIC Bank La Défense Building, we pass under its iconic arched walkway, a sleek modern design inspired by European architecture. The building is part of Chengdu’s high-end commercial zone, housing finance offices and upscale retail, and sits adjacent to wide boulevards and raised landscaping.

🌿 The walk becomes unexpectedly tricky as we try to navigate hedges, crosswalks, barriers, and multilane roads, all of which make reaching the New Century Global Center by foot a real challenge. It’s a modern urban maze!

🏢 About the Global Center:
The New Century Global Center is one of the largest buildings in the world by floor area. Located in Chengdu’s Tianfu New Area, this enormous complex houses shopping malls, hotels, an indoor beach, ice rink, cinemas, and more. The glass-and-steel exterior stretches across city blocks and is a symbol of Chengdu’s rapid urban growth.
