The island of Sulu-an in Guiuan, Eastern Samar was among the first to be devastated by Super Typhoon Yolanda in November 2013.
In our second #KwentoNgPagbangon, Guiuan’s Barangay Secretary Ma. Gina Talavera, and Alma Latina, President of the island’s all-women Sulong Sulu-an Association, recall their experience as Yolanda hit the island, and how the community has learned to rise again.
“Mga Kwento ng Pagbangon: 10 Taon Mula Yolanda (Stories of Resilience: 10 Years After Yolanda)” is an ongoing documentary series featuring stories of courage, resilience, and hope from the residents, experts, and communities of Eastern Visayas, a decade after the devastation.
