We search a Washington forest for an old logging camp that is indicated on a circa 1940s historical topographic map.
On this episode of Searching for History, Erin and I search a Washington State forest for an early 1900s logging camp ghost town. About 100 to 120 years ago much of western Washington was railroad logged. Railroads were built from the valleys up into the forest, transporting men and equipment to remote locations to harvest timber. Large logging camps that functioned as small towns were built in these remote locations next to the railroads. After the logging of the area was complete, the camps were abandoned and slowly but surely the logging camps disappeared. Join us as we search for a logging camp ghost town.
