Welcome to Akita, a beautiful prefecture in the north of Japan that I'm lucky to call one of my homes. Join me for a perfect, relaxing day exploring some of my favorite local spots. This is the first of my three-part Akita series, so I hope you'll follow along!
Even though Akita is in northern Japan, it's quite accessible from Tokyo, only about a 4-hour Shinkansen ride away.
This is what a real day in rural Japan can look like—a mix of deep nature, delicious food, and modern pop culture.
