1300 Years Old Bilot Fort And Temples In South Kafir Kot District Dera Ismail Khan

In this video we will show you 1300 years old Bilot fort which is situated on the top of a mountain between deep ditches. This fort was constructed by Raja Bal in the era of Hindu Royal Empire. It is said about that fort and Temples were constructed from the 7th to 8th century. According to the authentic tradition that this Bilot Fort was constructed by Raja Bal in 8th century. The stone which was used for the construction of this fort was brought from the nearest city Khushhal Garah of Kohat carried on boats through river Sindh. The stone of local mountain was not able to use due to the presence of high amount of mixture of clay therefore the fort and Temples were constructed after brought stone from the other cities. The residences of soldiers, palace of Raja, ponds of water, defense check posts, doors of fort and highest Temples were constructed inside this fort from which 7 Temples remain till now. Beside this a prison was also constructed here which is remain till now. The flowers of sunflowers are made on the lime stone in the construction of these Temples. It is known after watching the paintings which made on the walls of these Temples that the inhabitants of this fort belonged to the architectural style of Ghandhara and Kashmiri. They adopted the entire Gandhara and Kashmiri style of architecture which is still visible today. These Temples are also establish till today despite the attacks of Kushan Ghaznavi, and Mughals but the history is keep quiet about these Temples and fort. The information about Hindu Royal Empire is limited in history. Raja Bal brothers were separated from the Kabul Royal which were Buddhist. They accepted Hinduism later they were defeated by Sultan Mahmood Ghaznavi in 11th century. In British era when English's visited this place than they declared this Bilot fort a national heritage. And for the first time in 1915 the English’s include this Bilot fort in Mianwali Gazette. According to English’s here was a big population in ancient time from which traces remain. The Hindu Royal Empire had good relation with Gandharas and Kashmir. According to famous tourist Al-Biruni that the Raja brothers were Tibet’s or Turks which came and settled here. Because of Raja Bal, this fort became famous as Bilot Fort. The Hindus were called this fort Bilot Fort while the Muslims called this Kafir Kot and also today it is famous with the name of Kafir Kot South. The attackers of an ancient time passed through this route to go India from Kabul besides that many trader caravans passed through this route. Raja Bal, Raja Tal and Raja Aklot were three brothers and this fort was constructed by Raja Bal. This fort is also called Kafir Kot South while a fort was constructed by Raja Tal 31 kilometer from here which is called Tallot Fort. The Tallot Fort is called North Kafir Kot. While the third brother Aklot settled a city Akra near Bannu which was destroyed by Sultan Mahmood Ghaznavi. This Bilot Fort which is called South Kafir Kot is situated on the top of a mountain of suburbs village Bilot Sharif in Tehsil Pahar Pur of District Dera Ismail Khan Province Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The road which goes from Dera Ismail Khan towards Mianwali (Chashma Barrage) on which Bilot Sharif village is situated on 54 kilometer. This fort is situated on left side towards forest on the top of a mountain on 2 kilometer from there. This is also a mysterious fort and according to local people no one go here in night because the giants appear in night whose height and the bodies are exceptional. Now the Bilot fort is deserted and abandoned and is in the custody of Archaeology Department Khyber Pukhtunkhwa Pakistan. They look after this fort now.
