Join us on this short walking tour in the city of Tromso. It was quite cold during our walk but very much enjoyed this charming city.
Tromso, also known as Romsa in Northern Sami, is a captivating city in Northern Norway.
It lies 350 kilometers (217 miles) north of the Arctic Circle.
The city is situated on the island of Tromsoya, surrounded by fjords and mountains.
It is the largest urban area in Northern Norway and the third largest north of the Arctic Circle worldwide.
With a population of 77,992, Tromso is the 12th-most populous municipality in Norway.
The municipality’s population density is approximately 31.5 inhabitants per square kilometer.
Tromso experiences annual midnight suns and polar nights, depending on the season.
The city center boasts the highest number of old wooden houses in Northern Norway, some dating back to 1789.
The effect of the westerlies and the North Atlantic Drift (a branch of the Gulf Stream) makes Tromso' s climate milder than other settlements at similar latitudes.
