Chad provides a comprehensive lesson on the Ring Opening of Epoxides. This can be done under two conditions with varying regiospecificity, and ring opening in the presence of a strong nucleophile is covered first (sometimes called base catalyzed ring opening of epoxides), while acid catalyzed ring opening of epoxides is covered second.
