Nova Scotia to Scotland Part 2: " The Quest" Doug & Cindy's "True" Scottish Sea Kayaking Experience
Day 2: Launching from Puffin Divers in the "Sound of Kerrera', South of Oban, we headed South, the along Kerrera's stunning south coast. After a short stop for food and an opportunity to take in the spectacular views we headed further west beyond the island's SW tip to circumnavigate Back Isle.
Returning to Kerrera's south coast once more we explored the impressive rock formations until eventually reaching Gylen Castle, a remote and ruined 14th Century castle.
The castle was built and completed in 1582 and ironically it predates the first French colonial settlement in Nova Scotia by 23 years, Port Royal, built in 1605 within the Bay of Fundy.
Doug, a YouTube Subscriber to my channel, contacted me earlier in the year, Doug and Cindy a lovely couple from Halifax, Nova Scotia, requiring any information to assist in a Quest to visit Scotland for a 'True" Scottish Sea Kayaking Experience. So after a few emails with Doug to check requirements including dates etc, it became clear I would be unable to commit to looking after him and his partner Cindy due to caring for my wife following her knee surgery.
Further head scratching and contacts with old mates I was able to place Doug and Cindy in the capable hands of my old friend Tony Hammock who has been running a Sea Kayaking guiding company for more than 30 years located in an ideal position at Connel, just outside Oban in the heart of exceptional Sea Kayaking territory.
Tony was only to willing to look after Doug and Cindy's needs and dates were set for July. As time was fast approaching and Shirley's knee recovery was going well. I was given the thumb's up, to join Doug, Cindy and Tony for their quest last only a couple of days.
The video was produced as a reminder of their "True" Scottish Sea Kayaking Experience. I hope whoever watches, enjoys their journey.
For those wishing for impeccably guided Sea Kayaking adventures near Oban, don't hesitate to get in touch with Tony Hammock via his website: https://www.seafreedomkayak.co.uk. You will not be disappointed !!
