The fifth chapter of our Colorado Trail thru-hike brought us to the beautiful San Juan mountains. This section has always been one of my personal favorites as the trail oscillates between 12,000 and 13,000 feet much of the time. Highlights include reaching the CT high point, camping near Cataract Lake, spotting two bull moose, a gorgeous afternoon above tree line, and dropping down to the Animus River.
This section was filmed around the end of July, 2024.
