A few months ago, we had our sons tested for the #brcagene mutation. Ive has so many surgeries in the meantime, I haven’t been able to share what we learned until now.

I am #BRCA1 positive. That means I carry the #brcagenemutation, putting me at high risk of #breastcancer & #ovariancancer, as well as other cancers like #pancreaticcancer & #melanoma.

When someone tests positive for a #genemutation, after figuring out what it means for ourselves, we worry about whether or not our children carry it too. There is a 50% risk of passing it on.

There is so much misunderstanding about who should & should not be tested, when to test, & what #genetictesting could mean. I want to educate the world about this incredibly important topic.
