Types of Homes

Renting Vocabulary (Very Important)

• tenant
• letting agent

Examples:

• The landlord lives nearby.



Deposit & Rent
• deposit
• monthly rent

Examples:
• I paid a deposit.
• The rent is £800 per month.



Bills & Utilities

• internet

Examples:
• I pay electricity and gas bills.
• Council tax is expensive.



Furnished vs Unfurnished
• furnished

• part-furnished

Examples:
• The flat is furnished.
• The house is unfurnished.



Problems in the House

Examples:
• The shower is broken.
• There is damp in the bedroom.
• The neighbours are noisy.



Talking to the Landlord
• There is a problem with the heating.

• Can you fix this, please?



Moving In & Moving Out

Examples:
• I moved in last month.
• I’m moving out next week.



Viewing a Property
• Is the flat available?
• How much is the rent?
• Are bills included?
• How many bedrooms are there?



Real-Life Renting Dialogue

Tenant: I’m looking for a flat to rent.
Agent: How many bedrooms do you need?
Tenant: One bedroom, please.
Agent: The rent is £750 per month, plus bills.
