What is the Present Continuous?

We use the present continuous to talk about:
• actions happening now
• actions happening around now
• temporary situations
• planned future arrangements



Form (Structure)

Subject + am / is / are + verb + ing

Examples:
• I am studying English.
• She is working now.
• They are watching TV.



Positive Sentences
• I am learning English.
• He is driving.
• We are waiting.



Negative Sentences

Subject + am / is / are + not + verb + ing

Examples:
• I am not sleeping.
• She is not working today.
• They are not listening.



Questions

Am / Is / Are + subject + verb + ing?

Examples:
• Are you studying now?
• Is she cooking?
• What are they doing?



Time Expressions
• now
• right now
• at the moment
• today
• these days

Examples:
• I am working now.
• She is studying these days.



Main Uses of Present Continuous

2️⃣ Temporary Situations
• I am living in Manchester for now.

3️⃣ Future Arrangements
• I am meeting my friend tomorrow.
• We are travelling next week.

• The weather is getting colder.
