Late summer always brings one of the most vibrantly colorful events with the arrival of the red spider lilies (彼岸花 higanbana in Japanese). So the other Sunday with the weather finally (slightly) cooler and some interesting light with the cloud cover, I decided to walk from Matsudo Station, across the river, to "Spider Lily Hill" as it is called on Google Maps. To say it was underwhelming would be an understatement. The lilies themselves were gorgeous but to call it a 'hill' is a bit of a stretch - it's more 'a few lilies planted on the verge of a wheelchair ramp'. Still, it was a nice walk. The 'hill' is in Mizumoto Park, which was much larger than I expected so I will definitely be going back there in the future.
