Join me for this short and sweet 20 minute somatic movement practice. 💕
Now, you may ask "What is Somatic Movement?".
To back it up, if we break down the word somatic,
{soma} means - the body as perceived from within.
Somatic movement is a movement practiced consciously with the intention of focusing on the internal experience of the movement rather then the external appearance or end result of the movement.
It's exploratory.
It's about the quality of exploration and conscious attention.
It's about undoing our habitual movement patterns and playing with the curious exploration of sensation. 🔍
When focusing on our internal experience, like sensation and slowing down intentionally while doing so, we give ourselves more room and opportunity to listen to our bodies and how things are feeling throughout the process. This in turn helps us to know more about ourselves and when to possibly back off to avoid injury when a pose is too much or we've gone too quickly into it.
So, allow for these movements to be self resourcing techniques to make us feel good on the inside. 🫠
Movements we can always return to for our inner systems to help us come back to ourselves and possibly break old patterns.
Perhaps, even our emotional or reactive patterns too.
Learning who you are as a physical body in connection to your emotional body and mind.
You can incorporate this {Soma} through all your yoga and movement practices!
