Human Genome Project 30th Anniversary Selfies: Ari Patrinos

Ari Patrinos, former Director of the Office of Biological and Environmental Research in the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), former director of the Office of Biological and Environmental Research in the U.S. Department of Energy, hoped that the Human Genome Project (HGP) would be delayed a year. The U.S. Global Change Research Program (GRCP), which he was managing at the time, focused on tackling climate change. He was worried that the launch of the HGP would threaten the budget of the GRCP.

October 1, 2020, marks the 30th anniversary of the launch of the Human Genome Project. Prominent members of the genomics community have joined NHGRI in commemorating and celebrating this occasion by taking their own selfie videos.
