This is a video lecture about the third chapter, entitled "The Variety of Laws", of HLA Hart's 1961 seminal book, The Concept of Law. In it, Hart lays out four types of laws that he claims cannot be explained in terms of orders backed by threats, and that therefore cannot be explained by John Austin's theory of law.
