OSMRE is honored to present the 2025 Western States Abandoned Mine Land Reclamation Award to the Lewis Mine Fire Project in Louisville, Colorado. This project extinguished a decades old underground coal fire, protected the Davidson Ditch water supply serving 21,000 residents, and restored safety to the surrounding community. Through strong partnership, technical innovation, and resilience, a hidden danger was eliminated and abandoned mine land was successfully reclaimed.
