IIT Kanpur Professor Dr Surajit Sinha on What the Indian Economy Needs Today? Ecoholics

Dr Surajit Sinha did his undergraduate studies from St Xavier’s College, Calcutta and postgraduate
from Department of Economics, Calcutta University. He obtained another masters degree in
Economics in 1982 and was awarded Doctorate in Economics in 1987, both by McMaster University.
He worked as a Lecturer in Economics at St. Xavier’s College during 1980-81. He was also employed
as a Sessional Instructor at Algoma University College, Ontario during 1986-87. In 1988 he joined IIT
Kanpur as a Lecturer in Economics, and since then he has been working at IIT Kanpur. Presently he is a Professor of Economics His areas of teaching and research interests range from Monetary
Economics, Macroeconomics, Indian Economic Problems, Microeconomics to Money and Banking. In 2019 he was awarded Distinguished Teacher Award by IIT Kanpur.
