Missing my headset today and thus my voice didn't come through on the mic, only in Discord for some reason so it all looks a bit weird. Anyway a race against a team below us on the ladder however their power data shows very little difference to us which surprised me. On paper this looked like a good close race.
So the start was nice and gentle and generally the pace was very chilled. I think they were quite wary of us and didn't want to use energy anywhere other than climbs and I can relate to that. I did try a few rolls off the front during the race but nothing really came of it so in the end it was all about the up hills.
On the first small roller I picked up the pace but they seemed to have no trouble following. Looking at sauce it seemed I was burning more matches than them so I jumped onto the back and recovered for the tunnel climb.
I pushed the pace a little early going into the tunnel forgetting about the roller, so everyone just rolled past me early and we regrouped. At this point Rory started having connection issues again, which is hard to believe considering everything was smooth before. However he managed to hang onto the group within his disconnecting bubble and the rest of us all took turns on the front without anyone appearing to be a weakness. I figured this was gonna be a hard win at this point.
As we came out of the tunnel the power came down and Rory came back to us, clearly his network seems to have an issue with the amount of power he is putting through it... From here it was a relatively uneventful roll to the Rooftop KOM which was clearly going to be the deciding point of this race.
So up we went all together still although we allowed them to have the front to save legs for an attack. The rolling flats at the start kept everyone together for a bit but once we hit the constant uphill we finally got some separation happening. With 400m to go one of their started to move away on the front so I decided this was a move to follow and crush. I went after him at a controlled solid pace with Rory and David both following and we were all able to roll away from them slowly but surely for a 1-2-3.
Pretty happy with a solid win, not easy but ultimately it seemed we had the finish on them even with Rory's glitch's. We worth racing against these guys as they are stronger than they look.
