I spent 3 beautiful summer weeks in July 2014 in Plum Village, a Vietnamese Zen Buddhist monastery in Bordeaux, France. The monastery is also a mindfulness practice centre where outsiders can live and practice meditation and mindful living taught by Vietnamese Zen master Thich Nhat Hanh. His efforts advocating for peace during the Vietnam War moved Martin Luther King, Jr. to nominate him for the Nobel Peace Prize in 1967. Plum Village is a wonderfully nourishing sanctuary, where healing and growth is supported through the practice of mindfulness amongst a loving and understanding community. For me, coming back for the second time to Plum Village, felt like coming home.
