In this episode of the Mitsubishi Evo build series, we dive deep into turbocharger disassembly, cleaning, and inspection as we prep the turbo and exhaust manifold for reinstallation. If you're working on an Evo 8, Evo 9, or any turbocharged car, this video walks you through removing the compressor housing, hot side cleaning, dealing with seized parts, using penetrating oil (PB Blaster), and identifying turbo damage before it's too late.
Along the way, we hit a few unexpected roadblocks — including a broken V-band bolt and signs that the CHRA (center housing rotating assembly) might be toast 😬. So now we face the big question: rebuild the turbo or upgrade?
